Description
Saarland University Hospital (UKS) is recruiting a full-time Nursing / Medical Educator for its nursing school in Homburg, Saarland, Germany. Applications are welcome from experienced educators and relevant bachelor’s graduates starting their teaching careers. UKS plays a leading role in medical education, research and patient care beyond Saarland, with 32 clinics, eight clinical institutes, a medical care centre and numerous specialist centres. More than 6,300 employees support the care of over 50,000 inpatients and 260,000 outpatients annually, with 1,466 designated beds.
You will plan, deliver and review competency-based learning for aspiring nursing professionals, independently or initially with experienced teachers, depending on your qualifications. You will connect nursing practice with scientific knowledge, help students justify and critically reflect on professional decisions, support learning and provide feedback. Participation in assessments and examinations will depend on your qualifications and legal requirements. You will also contribute to curriculum development, digital and practice-oriented teaching, school quality improvement and collaboration with colleagues and practical training partners. Applicants should have completed professional nursing training and a relevant degree in nursing education, medical education or a comparable subject, preferably at master’s level; a suitable bachelor’s degree is also accepted. An interest in contemporary teaching methods, responsiveness to different learners, constructive feedback, teamwork, reflection and continued professional development are important, as is a willingness to uphold the school’s mission and safeguarding policy. Extensive teaching experience is not required.
The position is assigned to TV-L pay grades E9b–E13, with classification based on the applicable duties and eligibility criteria; a lower classification applies where those criteria are not met. Individual pay steps 1–6 are determined under Section 16 TV-L, taking account of personal circumstances and relevant experience. Benefits include a contribution towards a public transport Jobticket, access to the Corporate Benefits programme, a collaborative working environment, structured induction, professional and teaching-method development, and scope to contribute ideas for competency-based teaching, digital learning and linking theory with practice. TV-L employment conditions, an occupational pension, health promotion and work–family balance measures are also offered. Bachelor’s graduates receive a gradual, professionally supervised introduction to teaching duties; responsibilities and further qualification options will be discussed individually within the applicable legal framework.
